POSITION SUMMARY


The FLOWER GARDENS (FG) Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and enhancement of the Flower Gardens' designated jobs, according to GP margins and schedule deadlines. This role involves managing all FG staff and crews, developing and implementing garden design plans, and ensuring the health and aesthetic appeal of the Flower Gardens. Ensure that all work is completed profitably according to the contract and client's satisfaction while maintaining Marders standards. Generate landscape sales in conjunction with driving Flower Garden sales by working with all Marders Landscape and Property Care Account Managers. Cultivate interior decorators and landscape architects. Cross-sell all Marders products and services.  


 ESSENTIAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Develop and implement garden design plans and maintenance schedules to ensure the health, beauty, and sustainability of the flower gardens.
• Oversee the planting, pruning, fertilizing, and watering of flowers and plants.
• Monitor garden health, diagnose plant diseases or pest issues, and manage appropriate treatments or interventions.
• Responsible for the design and estimating of jobs as directed.
• Manage the scheduling/execution of all flower garden customer service requests as assigned.
• Ensure our flower garden presentations and designs are superior and meet the standards of the LS/PC Account managers and all of the departments you collaborate with as the high company standards are critical to meet.
• Ensure all protocols and procedures are followed including conference reports.
• Ensure directives, layouts and your own preparedness as this is critical to profitable completion and happy customers.
• Meet your sales goals on a monthly basis and understand production challenges to anticipate delays and errors.
• Ensure focus on communication and protocols for “buyers” by being proactive, and avoiding “last minute” crisis scenarios.
• Focus on inventory levels as much as possible to sell what we “already have.”
• Network and be on the lookout for opportunities for the company and identify these in sales meetings. Voice breakdowns of any kind immediately so we can address timely.
• Ensure our flower garden presentations and designs are superior and meet the standards of the LS/PC Account managers and all of the departments you collaborate with as the high company standards are critical to meet. 
• Ensure all protocols and procedures are followed including conference reports.
• Ensure directives, layouts and your own preparedness as this is critical to profitable completion and happy customers.
• Network and be on the lookout for opportunities for the company and identify these in sales meetings.
• Review/create all paperwork and ensure that all required documentation/information is provided for the proper execution of jobs, sales, and up-sell opportunities on jobs that are you handling. 
• Ensure crews are set up and clear on your expectations.
• Monitor crew timesheets and ensure their accuracy and approve and pass by 9:00 am the next day to be costed. 
• Communicate scheduling needs with the FG Maintenance Manager.
• Set up a log to track and follow up with all clients you work with.
• Follow procedures through the “buy-in” process to address your material needs if not already in inventory. 
• Promote and ensure excellent care and quality of flower gardens and pots on all properties.
• Responsible for appropriate use and care of all vehicles, equipment, and tools issued to you.
• Continuously monitor accounts throughout the season for quality assurance and training purposes.
• Responsible for working with FG Maintenance Manager and Foreman to review and build on clients’ pre-orders for the next season.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations for staff.
• Promote and implement environmentally sustainable gardening practices.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
 • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Botany, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, or a related field. (or equivalent work experience)
• At least [3-5] years of experience in horticulture or garden management, with [2+] years in a supervisory role.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• Strong knowledge of plant species, garden design, and horticultural techniques.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and handle administrative tasks.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Master Gardener, Certified Horticulturist) are a plus but not required.
• Strong Project Management and Organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project requirements.

Salary from $100,000-$130,000 commensurate with experience.
