We take pride in our attention to detail, creativity, and commitment to customer satisfaction.  Marders specializes in organic plant care solutions, utilizing innovative techniques and sustainable practices to promote the vitality and longevity of landscapes.   We are seeking a Receiving and Inventory Manager to join our team, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing the efficient management of our receiving and inventory operations.  


Position Summary:

Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the receiving process and developing a plan of action based on offloading and placement instructions included on all purchase orders. Follows the merchandising plan for all incoming deliveries to all designated storage and organizes received materials for all departments within the entire Marders organization. Works with all Managers and buyers to ensure the steady flow of necessary materials and labor to streamline the receiving process.  Responsible for the accurate handling, storage, and tracking of a diverse range of products, including plants, shrubs, flowers, and hard goods, ensuring that our garden, retail, and landscaping center operates smoothly and effectively.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Oversee Receiving Operations: Manage the receipt of incoming shipments, including plants, shrubs, flowers, and hard goods. Ensure that all products are inspected for quality and accuracy, and verify that shipments match purchase orders.

 

Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records by tracking stock levels, conducting regular audits, and updating inventory systems. Ensure proper organization and labeling of all inventory items.

 

Coordinate with Suppliers: Communicate with suppliers to resolve any issues related to shipments, discrepancies, or product quality. Schedule and manage deliveries to optimize inventory flow and minimize disruptions.

 

Warehouse Organization: Oversee the organization and maintenance of storage areas to ensure efficient space utilization and easy access to products. Implement best practices for storing perishable and non-perishable items.

 

Team Supervision: Lead and train a team of receiving and inventory staff. Assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure that team members adhere to company policies and safety procedures.

 

Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve receiving and inventory management processes to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and optimize inventory turnover.

 

Customer Service: Work closely with sales, buyers, and customer service teams to address any inventory-related issues and ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.

 

Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of plants, and other inventory items. Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce safety protocols.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Experience Required: Three to five years of proven experience in a receiving and inventory management role, preferably within a garden center, landscaping company, or retail environment.

 

Knowledge: Strong understanding of inventory management systems, horticultural products, and best practices for handling and storing plants and hard goods.

 

Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail. Strong leadership and team management skills.

 

Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with suppliers, team members, and customers.

 

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in inventory management software and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Acumatica a plus).

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy items, as needed, and work in varying weather conditions.

Salary range (commensurate with experience):  $75,000 - $87,500
